Meet Felicity
A successful Yorkshire Businesswoman who is committed to getting us all a better deal
Felicity is a Yorkshire businesswoman who launched Swinton Park as a hotel with her husband Mark in 2000. The Yorkshire Dales enterprise has thrived since then, despite the odds, and now employs over 150 people. Known for her business acumen, innovation and creative flair, Felicity has also been the driving force behind the Cookery School, Country Club & Spa and Glamping Campsite. She works closely with the rural side of the Swinton Estate and has a good understanding of the complexities of the world of agriculture, forestry and conservation.
Her background is in commercial law. With a degree in Law at Durham, she specialised in commercial property at a City law firm during her twenties before the move North. Development, finance and business acquisitions were her areas of expertise, with high profile projects including the London Eye.
She is also a very proud mother of three, who are all now at school and university. Whilst working full time, she found time to help run the local playgroup and be a governor at the primary school. She has also helped set up the New Light art charity, was a trustee of Masham Almshouses and James Cook Ocean Youth Trust and was on the board of Ripon City Partnership. She is also a panel member for FIPL, a grant scheme for the Nidderdale National Landscape.
More recently Felicity has been elected as County Councillor for North Yorkshire Council, representing the Liberal Democrats, for Masham & Fountains. She won with a vote share of 62%, she likes to win!
In her spare time, she plays tennis for Masham, sings for the Yorkshire Decibelles and is a member of Fearby Panto. Holidays often involve walking, cycling or sailing.
