Councillor Steve Mason

Steve Mason was elected to North Yorkshire County Council in May 2022 to represent Amotherby and Ampleforth division.

Steve has over 10 years of experience and understanding of sustainability and is well versed in and have contributed to renwable energy and sustainable policy development. In particular, his experience in collaborating at all levels with various UK political parties, businesses, academia and community networks provides a great foundation to act on behalf of the community.

In his day job, Steve plays a key part in helping to build policy and practice to deliver a wide variety of green solutions, which enhances his role as a councillor by providing him with insight into procuremnet, policy and public engagement processes.

His background includes leading a broad coalition of communities, NGOs, politicians, influencers, and academics to be a focussed political lobbying force to ban fracking in North Yorkshire.
