What is my ambition for the region?
My vision for the York and North Yorkshire economy is for it:
- To be a thriving hub for investment, research and skills
- To achieve carbon zero, be biodiverse and sustainable
- To get our fair share - for central government to level up its funding and invest in our potential
My vision for everyone in York and North Yorkshire is for them:
- To be able to live in a low carbon home they can afford,
- in a sustainable community, and
- on a salary that supports their family life and wellbeing
As Mayor, I will achieve my vision for a Bright Future by:
- Driving investment and funding towards my seven policy key deliverables:
1. Sustainable Economic Growth
2. Skills and Health
3. Greener & cheaper energy
4. Putting the Heart back into the Community
5. Cleaner Waterways
6. Safer & Stronger Communities
7. Integrated public transport & improved active travel network
- Combining forces with the other Northern regions to take advantage of pooled skills, funding opportunities and large scale investment initiatives
- Providing the charity and voluntary network within the region with the integrated support and funding they need to continue to deliver the essential support they provide to the lonely, vulnerable and in need, and to ensure that they are better connected and accessible to all.
